 | 10:16 - Colouring for Adults I've been enjoying the #ColorOurCollections shares this week, and I thought I'd make a post listing all the ones I've found so far in case anyone else was interested. I may repost this in my public/academic blog, but I'm not sure yet (plus it's far easier to blog here since I don't have to switch Google logins, etc.)
NYAM Center for History roundup, includes a PDF list with links to all/most participants. See also their Pinterest board for images share only via Twitter and Instagram.

 | 11:47 - Hacker spam I don't normally check my spam folder on Gmail very often. I was amused at how many hacker-scam-attempts I had though, especially considering that my WoW account isn't on Google Mail ;) Moused over a few of the links (from work) to see the god-awful fake links, and then thanked the lord I have an authenticator. Also amused to see one which appears to be for Aion, which I've never ever played! :P

Seing the fresco in context and then the appauling condition of it after it has been wrenched from the walls makes me feel almost physically sick! Местонахождение: Stoke on Trent Настроение: angry

 | 16:38 - New Scientist & global warming I've been reading this on the New Scientist website, and the comments made me utterly boggle!
http://www.newscientist.com/special/blueprint-for-a-better-world
Comment number one is from a conspiracy theorist. A semi-intelligent one, but a numpty nonetheless. As he admits later in the comments, all his information comes from one source, which is in itself funded by non-partisan research... >.< The thing that boggles me though, is that someone who is so clearly not an educated reader* is reading such a site. And that there is more than one out there.
Agreeing or disagreeing is all part of academia and science in particular, but 'Mark's comments belie any academic relation. I find it very puzzling as to why he is reading the New Scientist at all!
* Note, not saying he isn't educated, just that he has not been taught about reading and evaluating sources, etc. Настроение: bitchy

 | 14:11 - Neanderthals 'may have been killed off by modern humans'
Neanderthals 'may have been killed off by modern humans'Neanderthals may have been actively killed off by modern humans, scientists believe, after a skeleton buried in an Iraqi cave was found to have a man-made spear wound.By Aislinn Simpson ( Читать дальше...Свернуть )
My questions/observations on this: 1. We know who was likely to have made the weapon, but not who posessed it at the time it was thrown. 2. At what distance was the projectile thrown - i.e. accident or murder. 3. Could this be evidence of Neanderthal hominids trading and using Homo Sapiens' tools?
